It is very sad but MEFP - Malvern Emergency Food Program is closing.
Below is an email we received from Dale - who is well known to many of us!
The Committee today have decided we have to close our service by 30th June due to the demolition of our storeroom at Mecwa.
We will wind down our service until then.
We have actively searched for another venue but cannot find anything with good access to suit our needs.
We would have to spend a lot of money to set up shelves etc and we are unsure of further volunteers to carry this on.
Sadly, we are all near or past the eighty mark.so some cannot continue.
Another problem is the distribution by the police as the Malvern station is closed a lot of the time to the public so no one can access the food parcels.
They are very understaffed as well.
The Committee wishes to acknowledge and thank all the Rotarians from Malvern and Malvern East/ Chadstone for the terrific support and donations over the years. It has been a privilege to be involved with your organisations who have helped us so much.
We hope you have found a new location too for your meetings. Nothing stays the same sadly.
Most of the current volunteers started 20 years ago with Joan of course being there the full 33 years so we are very sad to end like this rather than passing it on.
All the best to you all.
Carry on the amazing contributions you make to the community.
Kind Regards
Dale Mackie
